What are the advantages of living on a coastline?

the only thing i can think of would be property value and a good view. otherwise there are hurricanes, flooding, tidal erosion, your house could get washed out, horrible winds in the winter, salt corrosion on any item made of iron (I.E. car, lawn ornaments, fences and gates)
