Little beyond his myth. He was a cold-blooded communist killer who tried to start a revolution in South America and was killed for that by the Bolivian army. He lives on in the propaganda of Fidel Castro and in those on the New Left who supported Castro's dictatorship. He became a cult figure among members of these groups in America in the 1970s. His mistress, Tania Burke, became the model for the cartoon imposed upon Patricia Hearst by the Symbionese Liberation Army.
